Free Family Movie Days at the Theater
Free stuff June 7th, 2007Growing up in upstate New York, we never had enough money to go see movies regularly. My summers were full of being stir crazy at not having enough to do at home, and being jealous of my friends. Most of them went to the movies weekly (or even more often) using their fat $5 a week allowances.
$5 went a lot farther I remember. A matinĂ©e cost around $2.50 back then. (soda was a nickel a bottle, and we walked uphill to school both ways, and we loved it!) I made do with my library card and a little brother. Which wasn’t that bad, but going to the movie theater sure would have been nice.
Over at Raising4Boys.com, Free Summer Movies for Kids lists national chains that are currently hosting free and discounted family movie screenings. Participating theater chains include:
- Clearview Cinemas
- AMC
- Crown Cinemas
- Regal Cinemas
- Edward Cinemas
- Classic Cinemas
- Cinemark
- Dickinson Theaters
Granted, going to the theater is no substitute for good old fashioned sunshine, kickball and lemonade stands, but nowadays, kids are more prone to sitting in front of their Wii, Computer, PS3 playing Guitar Hero or World of Warcraft. There’s nothing necesarily wrong with video games, but it IS good and important to get the children out of the house from time to time.
So go ahead, check out the link over at Raising4Boys.com and learn how you can take your children to the movies for free.
