The reason I first went to John Chow’s website was because I had heard that it had been banned from Digg.com. There was something very intriguing about a personal website that had done something so egregious as to be banned by one of the largest sites on the web.

I have learned a lot of things at his website, but most of all, I have learned that he is evil.

Very evil.

John Chow is a very successful internet marketer. He runs a website called TTZ which sells electronic consumer products via aggregate reviews and affiliate programs. His website, http://www.johnchow.com, is his personal website.

About 1/3 of his website is about the evil techniques he uses to make money on-line, and often times, in describing his own techniques, he takes the opportunity to employ them and improve his own presence on the web. There is a very good reason he is in the top three for “making money on-line.” He is creative with his internet marketing, and is shameless in using them.

Another 1/3 of his website is about his two main non-internet loves, expensive cars and food. I now know too much about restaurants in Vancouver because of him. He likes his food, and he likes taking pictures of it. I gain weight by just reading his site sometimes.

And the last 1/3, is for website reviews. I wish I could say my website reviews were anything like his, but mine fail to make the grade. The reviews on JohnChow.com are professional, insightful and above-all educational. Other people complain that there are too many reviews on his site, but I maintain that the reviews are a very important part of the site. Not only does he point out the strengths and weaknesses of each site, he talks about what tricks the site owners can use to improve the performance of the website. And for a neophyte webmaster, that information is invaluable. I hope that as I review more sites, I will learn more about being a good webmaster. Also, this is a good example of one of John’s evil techniques, where if you post a review of JohnChow.com, he’ll give you a nice back link.

I like the blog a lot. Otherwise I wouldn’t read it, or review it. My only gripe is that there are too many posts. My brain goes numb now whenever I see a food post on JohnChow.com. I’m sure I’m missing out on something important, but what I do read (non-food or car stuff) there is gold.
