They will lure you in with promises of making more money than you have ever imagined for a small amount of money. Sometimes it might be just $20. Othertimes, small might mean $699.

There are hundreds of websites out there which will try to convince you that for $699, they will provide you with an Internet business that will make thousands of dollars a day.

What is a turnkey business?

A turnkey business is a business that includes everything you need to open. Upon acquisition, the only thing you need to do to start operations is to unlock the doors, and flip the sign from “Closed” to “Open.” The marketing should already be in place. The staff is already hired and trained. All the new owner of a turnkey business need do is sit back and count the money.

Traditionally, most turnkey operations were either very simple, like vending machines, or parts of larger organizations, like franchises.

The Internet will tempt you with turnkey businesses.

On the Internet, there are hundreds of programs and scams which will try to sell you “opportunities” to get in on the “ground floor” of an exciting new business model. They will cajole you with unsubstatiated and unproven anecdotes of millionaires who made their fortunes from the comfort of their living rooms. These opportunities will tell you that all you need is an Internet connection and your credit card to make thousands. If it sounds too easy, it is.

All you need to do is spend a little bit of money to make more than your wildest dreams.

Every business requires work.

A search on google.com with the terms “turnkey” “Internet” and “business” yields over 1,000,000 different webpages. I won’t link to any of them. If you really feel the need, you can do google for them yourself. I’d rather keep you from temptation. Their ad copy is very compelling, and the sheer number of different webpages might make you think that there is something to it.

However, in reality they’re all trying to sell you the same promise. Each and everyone of them is a snake oil medicine salesman trying to steal your money. That for little or no effort, you can become rich. That for a small sum of money, you can be a successful businessperson and gain that mystical title, “entrepreneur.” They will tell you that in the past, it was difficult for people to start businesses and that the Internet has changed all of that.

But the sad truth is, all it’s done is make it easier for them to take advantage of your own hopes and dreams.
